THE JACKDAW’S ENVY

Once in a farm there were many pigeons of different colours. But out of them grey headed pigeons were many in number. The owner of the farm fed them regularly with grains. This was noticed by a jackdaw who lived near the farm. The jackdaw looked at the pigeons which were well fed and leading a happy life in the farm house. The Jackdaw envied at the pigeons every day.

The jackdaw decided to steal the grains from pigeons. It painted his body like that of a pigeon.

Then he joined the pigeons  as one of them. Thus he was able to  enjoy the grains daily. This continued for several days. But the pigeons never suspected anything.

But one day after a heavy feed, the jackdaw could not control himself. He started singing in enthusiasm and the pigeons noticed this strange voice. They came to know that he was not one among them.

Out of anger all the pigeons pecked at the jackdaw so mercilessly that he began to bleed severely.

The jackdaw flew away to save his life and went straight to his own group of birds, the jackdaws. But because of his painted body, they refused to accept him.

So he was forced to flee away from that place in order to save his life. Thus he became a homeless wanderer throughout his life.

MORAL: NEVER POSE TO BE WHAT WE ARE NOT.
